Supreme Court Judgement in Regional Languages
Supreme Court verdicts to be available in Regional languages – This good news is for all those who are regional language lovers; the Supreme Court has decided to make its judgments available in regional languages by the end of this month.
According to the sources, this software application will be launched in one go only covering “all vernacular languages” which will be similar to Google text translator. Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi cleared that the software has been developed by the electronic wing of Supreme Court. CJI has also said this move is aimed to benefit the litigants, who were not able to read the judgments after fighting the case for a long number of years, the sole reason being improper knowledge of English.
The English orders are available on the website on the day they are passed; however, the translation of these orders will be available within seven days only, said the report.
The president of India Shri Ramnath Kovind have mooted this idea in October 2017 itself, that a system may be developed where certified copies of judgments are available in the local or regional languages.
Most probably, the new app will be launched along with the inaugural of the new office building of Supreme Court.
