The Supreme Court yesterday issued notice to the Centre, Waqf Board and All India Muslim Personal Law Board in a petition seeking right of women to pray in mosque. The Petitioners, a Muslim couple in the case have made averments in favour of allowing Muslim women to pray in Mosque in view of Supreme Court’s verdict in Sabrimala temple case, wherein the Apex Court lifted the ban prohibiting entry of women devotees in the temple.

The Petitioners have pleaded in the case that the prohibition of entry of women in the Mosque in India is illegal and violative of their constitutional rights under Articles 14, 15, 21, 25 and 29 of the Constitution.
