Kathua Gang Rape- Court Awards Life Sentence to 3 Convicts

June 11, 2019

The Kathua Gang rape case was taken up by the District and Sessions Judge, Pathankot. The Kathua case involved rape and murder of minor girl by 6 accused. The Judge yesterday convicted 3 of the 6 men accused in the case. Main accused in the case Sanji Ram, who also happens to be a priest of the temple where the horrific act took place, his friend Parvesh Kumar and Special Police Officer Deepak Khajuria have been held guilty by the Court for offences of murder under Section 302 of IPC, rape under Section 376 of IPC and for criminal conspiracy.

The dreadful crime committed by the perpetrators in January last year leaves one shocked and shaken. The whole crime narrates an unimaginable offence and leaves us wondering the vulnerability and ominous nature of the society we are living in where even a minor girl of 8 years and an old women of 80 years is susceptible to perilous acts of crime against women.
