The Delhi High Court has issued ex-parte restraining orders to Zydus Wellness Ltd., the consumer product company of Zydus Cadila against look-alike brands and products having resemblance to its flagship brand Nutralite.
Elkana Ezekiel, Managing Director, Zydus Wellness confirmed in a press release that ‘Naturelite’, marketed by Everlike Food Products bear packaging resemblance to Zydus’ Nutralite margarine, the leading company in table spread category.
According to a company’s spokesperson, it has taken years of consistent effort by Zydus Wellness to build a trusted brand like Nutralite and the company is determined to curb the efforts of those who are intending to build a look -alike Nutralite product. He further confirmed that the orders passed by the court will support the company in its efforts to restrain the deceitful activities of its competitors.
In a statement issued by the managing director of Zydus Wellness, Nutralite has build a firm position in the market as a table spread which is ‘lighter than butter’. It is also low on calories, fortified with vitamin A, D and E and does not contain trans fat. The margarine brand continues to thrive in spite of tough competition from rival companies like Amul and Britannia.
