1. Short title, extent and commencement - (1) This Act may be called the Arms Act, 1959.

(2). It extends to the whole of India.

(3). It shall come into force on such date [ Note: 1^st October, 1962, vide Notification No. G.S.R. 992, dated 13-7-1962, see Gazette of India, Pt. II, sec. 3(i) p. 1092. ] as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
